See AllPura Batu Bolong Pura Batu Bolong is Lombok’s most appealing Hindu temple and particularly lovely at sunset. Join an ever-welcoming Balinese community as they leave offerings at the 14 altars and pagodas that tumble down a rocky volcanic outcrop into the foaming sea about 2 km south of central Senggigi. The rock underneath the temple has a natural hole, hence the name (batu bolong literally means ‘rock with hole’).Gili Trawangan Gili Trawangan is the largest of Lombok's Gili Islands and the only one to rise significantly (30 m) above sea level. The name Trawangan originates from the Indonesian word Terowongan (Tunnel) due to the presence of a cave tunnel built there during Japanese occupation in World War 2. Gili Trawangan is the most developed and geared towards tourism. The main concentration of settlement, recreation, accommodation and diving business is situated on the eastern side of the island. On Gili Trawangan (as well as the other two Gilis), there are no motorised vehicles. The main means of transportation are bicycles (rented by locals to tourists) and cidomo (a small horse-drawn carriage). For travelling to and from each of the Gilis, locals usually use motorised boats and speedboats.The economy of Gili Trawangan centres on tourism, as the island is too small to support any broad scale agriculture and too remote to allow economically viable industry or commerce.Gili Meno Gili Meno is the middle of Lombok's three northwest coast Gilis. Gili Meno has a population of about 500, mainly concentrated on the centre of the island. The main income comes from tourism, coconut plantation and fishing. On the west side of the island there is a small shallow lake that produces salt in the dry season. Until a few years ago there was also a small production of seaweed on the reef at the north end of the island. Gili Meno has swimming beaches all around the island and a turtle sanctuary.The island attracts fewer tourists than Gili Trawangan and is the quietest and smallest of the islands. However, honeymooners are often drawn to the crystal clear water and idyllic, secluded white beaches.Since early 2017 fresh water was installed on the island and is supplied by underwater pipes from Lombok. Electricity is supplied by underwater cables from Lombok. There are no cars or motorbikes.Gili Air Gili Air is the second smallest of the islands and the closest to mainland Lombok, making it popular with honeymoon couples and travelers seeking a quiet retreat. It has a population of about 1,800. The island offers excellent snorkeling and scuba diving off its east coast, and turtles can be seen along the coral reef. Continued investment in tourism is resulting in rapid development of the islands and each year sees new resorts and accommodation on the islands while attempting to retain their individual character. Proximity to Gili Meno, the smallest and most secluded of the islands and to Gili Trawangan the largest island, known for its many restaurants and parties, makes Gili Air an attractive destination that combines relative seclusion with adequate services. Both other Islands are a quick boat ride away.Mt. Rinjani In many respects Mount Rinjani is what separates Lombok from her sister Indonesian islands. The chance to visit a volcano is one that should not be missed. The second highest volcanic peak in Indonesia, it is part of the ‘Ring of fire’ and is considered a sacred place on Lombok. The highlands near the volcano are undeveloped and forested, while the lowlands are highly cultivated with fertile soil where rice, tobacco, cotton and soybean are produced. Protected by National Park status, visitors can attempt the three-day Rinjani Trek route from Senaru to the crater rim (Plawangan), down to the stunning crater lake then on to Sembalun Lawang. This is considered one of the best and most challenging treks in Southeast Asia.Sendang Gile Waterfall Sendang Gile Waterfall is a waterfall located in Senaru village, Bayan sub-district, North Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara province. More precisely located in the village of Senaru, 2 kilometers from the village of Bayan. This tourist attraction is still in the Rinjani National Park area. This is because this waterfall is the entrance to the climb to Mount Rinjani.To get to this place, visitors must go through two hundreds of steps that reach a height of 40 meters and a hollow bridge through a valley that requires about 15 minutes of exploration. Alternative travel can also be done by traversing the edge of a rather steep valley and following the irrigation canal and crossing a bridge made of rattan.A waterfall that is 600 meters above ground level and has a height of approximately 31 meters from the bottom of the river has two levels, the first level appears above the cliff and falls to the bottom of the pool below, while the second level, where the water glides down and form a river below it.Tiu Kelep Waterfall Tiu Kelep Waterfall is located in Senaru Village, North Lombok Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This 42-meter high-rise waterfall is located at the foot of Mount Rinjani and is adjacent to Sendang Gile Waterfall. Tiu Kelep can be reached in about 2 hours from Senggigi.Bau Nyale Festival Nyale is a party or ceremony known as Bau Nyale. Bau's word comes from the sasak language which means capture while the word nyale means sea worms that live in rock holes below the surface of the sea.Bau Nyale is a sea worm hunting event. This event is held around february and march. The venue for the bau nyale ceremony at Seger Beach, Kuta.
